Google Drive Gadget Link Types & Troubleshooting
How do I embed an editable version of my Google Doc, Sheet, or Slide document within my Google Drive Gadget?
If embedding on a dashboard, click Add Gadget in the top-right. Then find the “Google Doc Embed Gadget”. You may have to click the “Load All Gadgets” link within the search.
If embedding on a ticket, click on the “Google Doc Embed” icon underneath the ticket’s title
After installing Google Drive Gadget and adding the gadget to your dashboard or ticket you'll be presented with a screen that asks for a link.
To get a link that displays an editable version of the document you can simply copy the URL from your browser address bar of the Google document you want to embed.
Return to your Jira dashboard and paste the link into the Link field and click Save
NOTE: The document will only show if the current user is logged into their Google account and if they have been given rights to view and/or edit the document in question.

To get a link that displays a non-editable document without the Google Docs chrome displaying, first go to the Google Doc you want to embed.
Go to File → Publish to the Web
In the resulting modal dialog click the Publish button
Copy the link that appears within the popup
Return to your Jira dashboard and paste the link into the Link field and click Save
NOTE: This will embed the document into the gadget without displaying the Google Doc chrome but it also makes your document publicly accessible to anyone who knows the link to the file.
Google Embed Issues with Firefox Cookies
Firefox blocks Google Drive documents being embedded in third-party domains as part of its tracking protections. Due to this, you may see an error like this when trying to embed a document in Atlassian products:
To resolve this, you will need to disable tracking protection for the Jira instance you are on. You can simply achieve this by browsing to the Jira page affected and clicking on the shield icon in the URL bar and disabling the “Enhanced Tracking Protection” option for that site.
